I've been looking everywhere for a wall mail organizer and couldn't find one I liked. So I decided to DIY this one that I found on Pinterest!

Here's what you need:

  • Bulletin board
  • Spray paint
  • Fabric
  • 1/2 in. board
  • Copper pipe
  • Copper end caps
  • Copper brackets
  • Copper cup hooks
  • Copper screws
  • Drill
  • Screwdriver
  • Tape measure
  • Staple gun

I found most of my hardware supplies at Home Depot.

I then found my bulletin board at Homegoods. It was the right size but not the color I wanted and also had a basket attached. I unscrewed the basket, removed the inside bulletin board, and spray painted the frame a matte black.

Next, I recovered the inside bulletin board with a white fabric using a staple gun. After that was done, I spray painted the 1/2 in. board for my shelf. I had measured the length of the inside bulletin part to make the board the same length.

The copper pipe I got from Home Depot was too long for my board so I brought it back to them and they cut it down for me! I pre-drilled holes for the copper brackets and then screwed them down over the copper pipe.

Next, I pre-drilled holes in my 1/2 in. board and then screwed in my cup hooks.

The last part of my project was to attach the shelf to my frame. I drilled holes through my frame and then drilled matching holes into the back of my 1/2 in. board. It was a bit tricky to get these to match up but after a lot of measuring (and then just hoping it was right), I screwed my board into the frame through the holes. I popped the bulletin board back into the frame and hung it up!

I put up some mail and hung up our keys and added a few copper tags I found at Target to finish it up.

I love my new board and hope it keeps my mail pile a little more organized! :)
