Guys, I love when my couples choose a location that is unique and special to them! This is Zack's grandparent's home in Fort Mill. He grew up running around and climbing the huge oak trees and they had their engagement party here. I was so excited when they told me that that is where they wanted to do their session! Enjoy looking at some moments we captured tonight at the house.
If any of you know me then you know how obsessed I am with La La Land! I can't stop listening to the music, dancing through my kitchen, and dreaming of the incredible cinematography. I love photographing things that inspire me so I put together a small session inspired by the movie! I ordered this dress from Modcloth. Then I recruited one of my adorable previous wedding couples and we set off to a parking garage in the city of Charlotte, our own local version of La La Land.
P.S. I highly recommend listening to this while you scroll :)
THE END
We drove out to Wilkesboro, NC for Sarah and Patrick's engagement session. Patrick previously worked here at Camp Harrison and knew all the great places for us to explore! We had cats follow us around in the barn, went to visit the horses, explored down by the lake, and climbed hills. It was a gorgeous night with a slight breeze and Sarah and Patrick were adorably in love!
The Riverwalk at Rock Hill is one of my favorite places to shoot. You can wander along trails by the water, explore the trees, or run through open fields. Callie, Aj, and I walked the main trail and stopped off for photos whenever my eye caught something lovely. We had a great time and enjoyed the beautiful golden hour!
Triscia and Stephen love the feel of downtown Waxhaw and it is where Stephen proposed! We made our way there for their engagement session. We barely missed the rain that afternoon but a rainy day session can be cozy and intimate!
I've shot a lot of sessions at Anne Springs Greenway but this one was in a different section. Since it was their wedding location, the Dairy Barn was the perfect spot for Rachel and Christopher's engagement session! We ended the session in downtown Fort Mill to add a little sprinkling of small town charm.
I first met Brooke for coffee at Not Just Coffee and I knew immediately we would hit it off! We did her and BJ's engagement session in Uptown Charlotte during golden hour and the fall colors were in full bloom. We were lucky enough to find this park that had the most perfect view of the Charlotte cityscape and we took advantage of that. I had so much fun at this session and I can't wait for their wedding in October!
For Danielle and Mike's engagement we started at one of their favorite places to hangout, The Common Market. We then walked around Uptown Charlotte and stopped at The Green and the French Quarter. The fall weather was crisp and cool- a perfect day for photos!
Kimberly and Christian are getting married at the Laboratory Mill this fall so last fall we woke up early and did a sunrise session there! I don't often do sunrise sessions but boy do I love them! The lighting always has that quiet, still feel to it. These two wanted to incorporate some fun into their session so we used some props and they even brought superhero shirts for some of the photos! I can't wait to shoot their wedding in a few short months.
Ok guys. If you've been following, I'm almost caught up on blogging! And I've learned my lesson. I will never get this backed up with blogging again because I think my eyes might be crosseyed from staring at the computer even more than usual. I'm excited to shoot Bess and Craig's upcoming wedding this fall, but for now here is their cozy little fall session from last year!
Melanie & Jacob were married in Monroe NC last fall, but we did their engagement session in the summer at McDowell Nature Preserve! These two just snuggled up together and I think forgot I was even there. Those are the best sessions, when the couple is just them and in love.
"I don't get many things right the first time,
In fact, I am told that a lot
Now I know all the wrong turns the stumbles,
And falls brought me here
And where was I before the day
That I first saw your lovely face,
Now I see it every day
And I know
That I am, I am, I am, the luckiest"
I'm getting ready to shoot McKenzie and Zach's small wedding in Asheville tomorrow and I thought there was no better day to blog about their engagement session! They went to school at Winthrop so we wondered around the school taking photos for the first half of our session. We included a few fun things for their session since they are book and music lovers! After we had walked all around Winthrop, we headed right down the street to Glencairn Garden for the second half of the session. I just loved exploring this garden with its blooming flowers, a quiet pond, a weeping willow tree, and fountains. I can't wait to explore Asheville with these two on their wedding day tomorrow!
Amanda & Adam wanted a more funky engagement session so we headed to NODA in Charlotte to explore alleyways, restaurants, and murals. They spend a lot of time in this area so it made sense to do their session here. I always try to make sure my pictures fit who my couples are. These two were so fun and pretty much smiled the whole 2 hours we shot! I fully believe engagement sessions should be something fun to look forward to and not an obligatory time of pictures. Most guys after our sessions end up saying that they actually had a good time and that is my goal!
P.S. I absolutely LOVED Adam's bowtie!
My husband and I met Brandyn in college and I was so excited to get to photograph her daughter's one year session! I drove and met Brandyn in Wake Forest at E. Carroll Joyner Park. Perrie's dress was adorable and, totally unplanned, matched the flowers I brought! When shooting kid sessions, I bring props with me. Props allow kids to play or interact with something that takes the focus off of taking pictures and lets them just be them- and usually happier :)
Another sweet couple that has already had their baby, not to mention he is 6 months old already. If you haven't been following along, I am very behind on blogging sessions. Good news for you, there are a ton new blog posts up to scroll your day away through! :) We took Gerry and Juliette's maternity photos at Way's Garden in Williamsport PA and had a great time. I always love doing sessions for friends, especially friends that I also got to do their engagement photos and wedding!
I did Carly and Luke's maternity session, which you can view here, and was so excited to do their newborn session for them! Wyatt would not cooperate with us (he was not a fan of being naked), but we still got some adorable photos :) I really enjoy doing more natural, in home newborn photos. Again I mention, he is 1 year old currently so I'm sorely behind and he is super mobile now!
Carly and Luke are two of our dearest friends here in Charlotte and I was so excited to do their maternity photos for them! We explored the Rock Hill Riverwalk and found some gorgeous fall lighting to surround them. I also did newborn photos for them which can be seen here. Their child is now 1 so you can see how far behind I am on blogging!
